The answer to this dilemma is very easy - we see more pain in change than we do in staying in a rut - better the pain we know then the pain we don't know! What we don't realize is that there is reward in change! Think about it - let's say as a baby you made the decision, "I'm not changing a thing.
I get fed, changed, washed, housed - all my needs are taken care of - and, if I'm not happy with the way the adults are doing things, I just scream.
I love it! I don't want to change!" Absurd isn't it? Time changes the baby and the baby's world changes - toddler, pre-schooler, kindergarten, elementary, high school, college, job, family of one's own, middle age, retirement or not, and death.
Imagine what your life would be like if you hadn't gone through all these changes - think of all the wonderful things you learned and the fabulous experiences you had - good or bad - and all the great people you were able to communicate with, all the fabulous places you've been to..
..
There is so much reward in change - we forget that - because often change is associated with pain instead of joy of learning, evolving, and capturing new moments in our lives.
Are we trying to hold on to dear life? Why? Do we think if we don't change we won't die? Maybe.
I've got a little surprise for you - even if you resist all change every day all day long, change is still happening in your life - your clothes are wearing out, bus fares go up, babies are born, computers get faster and faster, plants grow their flowers and fruit, leaves fall from the trees - the cells in your body are in constant motion and state of change - you're getting older every single minute of every single day! don't you want to experience as much of life as possible and find the rewards in change - new thoughts, new attitudes, new ways of doing things, new behaviors - test them out - see how they work - see how you open up new worlds you never knew existed - you'll be in the "groove" of life - try it - the more you do it - the more fun you'll have, the more interesting your life will be and you'll get that passion back for life!
