Many children look forward to the Easter holiday. They can't wait for egg hunts, parades and, of course, an Easter basket full of goodies waiting for them to dive into. Preparing for Easter can be just as exciting for kids as the day itself, especially if they get to create lots of Easter-related crafts. - Cut two pieces of felt or fabric in the shape of a bunny. Sew the pieces together, leaving part of the seam open to allow kids to stuff the bunny with cotton batting or fabric scraps. Let kids decorate their bunnies with fabric markers, buttons and other craft materials to add eyes, a nose, a mouth and whiskers.
- Let your child create a scrapbook featuring her favorite Easter drawings and finger paintings. Give her a disposal camera so she can take pictures outside of church after Easter mass and at the Easter parade or community egg hunt. She can paste these photos into her scrapbook. Let her use brightly colored scrapbook paper, ribbons, stickers and other embellishments to decorate the cover and pages of her book.
- Create Easter baskets to give to friends and family to teach children that there's joy in giving. Make woven paper baskets with your child if you don't intend to put anything heavy in them. Let him use Popsicle sticks and glue to create Easter baskets. Or choose traditional wood or wicker baskets and let him paint and decorate them. Fill baskets with small toys, candies and treats.
