Smokey eyes makeup

The Smokey eyes look is by far the most popular makeup technique to grace the makeup world – its one trend that never gets old. My prediction is that the Smokey look will out live us all! We are going to help you to achieve this in THREE fast no fuss and simple steps.

Prep: Prepping the skin is perhaps the most important step. It requires you to invest a good moisturizer and foundation. No matter how flawless your eye makeup is, if your skin does not look radiant – especially the eye area – it will only draw attention to the imperfection. Prep the eye area with an eye cream first. The eye area is only area that does not produce oil naturally; hence it is extremely important to keep it moisturized.
Then apply some concealer over your eyelid to create a smooth base for your eye shadow and pat it down with a hint of powder so the concealer does not crease.  Your concealer be something not too heavy/creamy but high in pigmentation so it does not sit on the skin.

Apply: Next, use a black pencil line to trace your top lash line from the inner corner to outer corner. Don't stress if the line is not perfect. Then apply the pencil along the lower lash line and the inside of the eye. If you feel your eyeliner bleeds and after a few hours it is all over the place, dab a bit of black eye shadow using flat brush over your lid starting from the lash line working your way upward and into your crease.

It's best not to take the color beyond the eye socket line. Always work the eye shadow in layers.  Don't apply too much eye shadow all at once, it just make it harder to blend and can end up getting messy. Take your time applying the layers.  You don't always have to opt for black eye shadow for a Smokey – go for black, gray and brown or if you want a bit of color, dark green shadows. Stay away from blue hues – they can make you look like you have under eye circles.

Blend: The Smokey eye technique is not just about the intense dark eye shadow but more so about the blending. Hence the word ‘Smokey'. There should be no hard lines and the edges should blend perfectly making it appear as if the color literally disappeared into nothingness! The best way to get this effect is to use a small round soft blending brush. Blend the color in small circular motions.

Make sure while blending you don't take the color beyond the eye socket line. If the color exceeds beyond the crease line try lifting it slowly with cotton bud or dab a bit of conealer and blend. If it goes above the crease line, you wind up looking more goth than glamorous! So blend, blend and blend away like there is no tomorrow. Then, dust a lighter, natural eye shadow with a hint of shimmer over just you brow bone. End the look with the thick coat of Mascara.
