- Even if your dishwasher does not require it, it is best to rinse any food particles off of your flatware before putting it in the dishwasher. For best results, run your dishwasher right away. Placing stainless utensils in the dishwasher and letting them sit for a few days before running it will make your flatware appear dull quickly.
- Use warm water and a gentle liquid detergent to wash your flatware by hand. After rinsing, dry with a dish towel immediately, as drip drying can cause unattractive spots and streaks. Avoid using steel wool on stainless steel; you could permanently scratch it.
- Using a dish towel dipped in olive oil or even club soda is a great way to restore natural shine to stainless flatware. Dampening a dish towel with either ingredient and then rubbing will eliminate stains and streaks, and make your utensils look almost good as new.
