- 1). Attach your blade to a bevel-grinding clamp of any type either before or after your knife has a handle. Attach a small handle to the bevel-grinding clamp for a strong grip, allowing for torque and ease of movement.
- 2). Use a bevel bubble jig and set it with an angle wedge that is between 2 1/2 to 5 degrees. Set the jig to the 5-degree wedge to start by adjusting the level on the jig and then tightening it down with an Allen's wrench.
- 3). Place four fingers on the top side of the blade with your thumb pressed against the end of the clamp. Position the blade against the bench grinder so that the bubble is level on the jig, and make your grind in a steady motion moving from the base of the blade to the point. Keep the angle as consistent as possible when making your grind. Repeat this process with the opposite side of the blade, still using a 5-degree angle wedge.
- 4). Continue to repeat the grinding process by moving down from the 5-degree angle wedge to the 4-degree, 3-degree and then finally to the 2 1/2-degree angle wedge.
