- 1). Decide where you want to hang the ledges. Pick a wall to display the ledges on and determine exactly where you want to place them: in the middle of the wall or off to one of the sides, for example.
- 2). Determine how you want to arrange the ledges. For example, you can hang the ledges in a vertical column, a horizontal row, a diagonal line or a square formation. Pick an arrangement that appeals to you and serves as the best way to show off the items you intend to display on the ledges.
- 3). Space out the ledges. If you're hanging the ledges above one another, measure the height of the tallest item you intend to display and space out the ledges accordingly. If you're displaying the ledges in a horizontal row, decide how much space you want between each one. For example, spacing them too far apart may make the ledges look like random elements while placing them too close together can create a busy display.
- 4). Install the wall ledges. Once you have decided on a layout, hang the ledges on the wall. Make pencil marks on the wall to indicate exactly where you want each ledge to hang. If possible, hang the ledges on studs in the wall. If there aren't any studs in the chosen location, use anchors to secure the ledges to the wall. Use a level to ensure the ledges are hung evenly.
