Hi. My name is Van Thomas. I'm here with my model Nicole. I'm going to talk today about wet perms. Wet perms are kind of a contradiction in terms because perm means permanent and this is very very temporary. But it's a great way to show a completely different hairstyle for a day or two days for a party, whatever you want to do. So what I've done is I've left one side of her head in her natural state which is air dried, and I've done the other side in a wet perm. Now the wet perm simply means that we rolled it exactly like we would a perm but only using water, no chemicals. So when we create the curly side on her side after I take these rods out it's only going to last until the next time she shampoos her hair. Then it goes right back to the way it was. So if you just want to scare your husband or boyfriend or you've got a function to go to, this is a great way to create a new style. The rods are rolled exactly like you would a regular perm, and then dried. When we take them out you can see a tremendous difference already just in this one hair that I've taken down, the curly from the straight. But the entire head is going to be that same way. Just continue up the head gently taking these out. You'll notice we've used end papers as well, in order to keep the ends just as curly and consistent as the rest of the hair. A change in angle will change the style. It's important that you use perm rollers to give this curl. Regular rollers won't do it. Now you can see the amount of curl we've created as opposed to Nicole's other side which is straight. And remember it's very temporary. Now to reduce frizz I'm just going to spray it with a little bit of hairspray and then start picking these curls out. Pick through the hair gently but thoroughly. If I separate these curls a bit they're not going to go anywhere, they're in there. Now just a little bit of shine draft to reduce the frizz on the ends just a little bit. Like I said for a totally different look for a function, to scare your husband, whatever you want to do, it's a great way to do it. And I think the hardest part it probably the drying time. Her hair is naturally very straight. After we've rolled it in the water perm we've got these beautiful very consistent pretty tight curls even using a big roller.
