- 1). Select a headband that fits you well to serve as your base. Choose bands that are one plain color, without embellishment.
- 2). Dip a small paintbrush into glue, and paint a design with the glue on the headband. You can cover the entire hair band if you plan to make it completely glittery, or you can paint stripes, polka dots, graphics or even a monogram to make your hair band reflect your personal style.
- 3). Lay the headband, with the glue still wet, on a piece of clean newspaper. Open your glitter containers, and pick up the hair band. Carefully shake the glitter over the area where you've painted glue. The glitter will stick to the glued spots, making a design.
- 4). If using multiple glitter colors, repeat Steps 2 and 3. Note: If the glue dries before you finish, simply paint on a new layer of glue, shaking the glitter on it as quickly as possible. Allow the hair band to dry for at least 30 minutes.
- 5). Hold the headband out in front of you, and apply a thin coat of spray varnish. This will ensure that the glitter adheres to the band. Allow to dry for at least two hours before you use it as a hair accessory.
- 6). Use narrow headbands and glitter several of them. They look trendy when worn together in different colors, and also make great gifts.
