- 1). Locate the 5/8-inch diameter circular entrance hole of the carpenter bee nest. The entrance is perfectly round with bits of sawdust and yellow stains from bee excrement. Carpenter bees make their nests in wooden roof overhangs, house siding and fence posts.
- 2). Directly spray the aggressive repelling male bee with bee and hornet killer spray. It will drop to the ground and die within 10 seconds. If it does not, spray it a little more or step on it to kill it. Male carpenter bees do not have stingers, so you are not in any danger of being stung.
- 3). Spray the outside area around the nest hole with the bee and hornet killer spray. Spray bee and hornet killer into the hole at the queen bee. The queen bee has a stinger and guards the entrance of its nest, so be careful.
- 4). Remove the plug at the bottom of the hand duster. Turn the duster upside down, fill it with the bee killing dust with 1 percent pyrethrin. Insert the tip of the duster into the nest and pump the dust into the nest. Apply the dust to nearby cracks and crevasses. Plug off the entrance hole with a 1/2-inch cork.
- 5). Spray cypermethrin onto the exterior wood surfaces of roof eaves, fence posts, siding and roofing every two weeks during summer and fall. Spray the trunks of trees near your home as well.
