Stars

• Create a birthday cake for Jesus using stars. Create a star-shaped cake and frost it with silver- or gold-colored frosting. You can purchase star-shaped cake pans at discount stores. Alternatively, arrange cupcakes in the shape of a star. Leave the cupcakes in their baking papers and arrange them on the serving plate in the shape of a star. Frost the tops of the cupcakes as if they were all one cake.
  
  

Angels

• Make a birthday cake for Jesus using angels as its theme. Bakeries will be able to recreate almost any image and transfer it to a cake. If you prefer to make the angel cake yourself, use a piping bag and icing to draw an angel on top, outlining a triangle for the body and a circle for the head. Add wings by drawing half of a heart on either side of the angel's body.
  
  

Manger Scene

• Create a manger scene for your birthday cake for Jesus. Frost the cake white, then add figurines from a small Nativity scene or cake decorating figurines purchased from a discount or specialty store. Arrange them on the sheet cake, remembering to add the angels and the shepherds.

Add the numbered candles that correspond with the current year (for example, add the 2, the 0, another 0 and then the 9 candles for 2009).
