- 1). Open Dreamweaver CS4 and set up the connection criteria for your site: Choose "New Site" from the Site menu. Choose "Basic" and enter the prompted data. For connection, select "FTP" and then provide the connection data. You receive this from your Internet service provider. Click "Test Connection" to verify Dreamweaver will connect to your web server.
- 2). Select "New" from the File menu to create a new page. Type the heading. Format it using "Format" and "Heading 1" from the Properties panel.
- 3). Choose "Media" and then "Shockwave" from the Insert menu. Choose your Flash movie (a SWF file) from the browse window and click "OK." Coding is inserted in your document for displaying the SWF.
- 4). Type your text. Format the color and size using the properties available in the Properties panel.
- 5). Save the document as "index.html" which is the front page seen when your website is accessed.
- 6). Build each web page needed to complete your site using the same process. Name the pages as desired. To provide navigation amongst your pages, include buttons or text links. To insert links, use "Hyperlink" from Insert menu.
- 7). Upload your site pages by selecting the "Site" folder from the Files panel and pressing the blue up arrow icon. The files within the folder are uploaded to your server with the connection setup created earlier.
