How To Guide Your Child To Succeed In Life

Sometimes, participants of my programs, especially parents, ask me how they can help their children improve in their studies.
The first thing I will tell them is that I will only talk about it if they are serious, if not I ask them not to waste my time.
The reason is, I have shared the idea with many parents but not many took it seriously! It is not a simple process because my method helps a child to think, to work hard, to be truthful, to be humble, to practice Nature's Laws positively, and able to make wise decisions along the child's growing up process.
The child should also be able to set goals and achieve goals using Laws of Nature.
This includes simple goals such as passing exams with flying colors and to higher goals such as achieving success in life.
He or she should also be naturally able to adapt to this ever-changing world, continue to seek and learn to live a life full of awareness, and realize his or her purpose of existence on earth; and then pursue to fulfill it.
If you are interested to get your child to succeed only in exams, then this article will not be of much help to you; what I am sharing here is beyond than just trying to get your child to just achieve success in school examinations! There are many seminars around the world that just concentrate on achieving academic success.
I strongly believe that merely building an intellect of a child is not enough.
What is more important is to get the child to listen to the spiritual heart and let the heart naturally guide the intellect.
When the intellect is sharp but not guided, the chances are high for the intellect to be used for manipulation purpose, especially manipulating the truth! For example, if a child is told, again and again that he or she must become the top student in the class, what will happen is either the force of the parents' vibrations help instill the goal in the child, or it would be the child's goal out of fear of the parents' wish.
The child may not care for anything else in his or her life other than achieving that particular goal.
The probability, whatever it is, is high for the child to achieve his or her goal.
You, my dear reader, may wonder what is wrong with that; after all, that was the idea and the goal has been achieved.
Now, please give some deeper thought to this.
Let us say the child is very good in mathematics.
Another friend of his who is weak in mathematics comes to him for some guidance.
What do you presume will happen? Now, the goal instilled in him says he must become the top student, nothing less.
As such, he may have some worries now; what if, when he teaches his friend, the friend performs better than him in the next exam! As such, he chooses to refrain from teaching his friend, or he chooses to teach only to a certain extent and holds back on the more important lessons.
One of the greatest truths about life is that we are all here on this planet to learn.
Wise men and women from all walks of life, since time immemorial, have pointed out this timeless truth; that is to continue to seek, learn and be generous in sharing the knowledge gained.
However, in the above example, even though the child becomes intelligent, he or she has in many ways slowly deviated from the truth.
At the same time, the child would now have Nature's Laws working against him or her.
As the child refrains from sharing the knowledge he or she has gained, Nature too would 'refrain' from teaching the child the great truths of life.
All this would set forth the negative cycle of Nature's Laws.
Although, the child may have material wealth through his sharp intellect, there would be no peace within him because an intellect which is not guided by the spiritual heart would be very manipulative.
It uses people, events and things for selfish gains at the expense of others.
There would be no peace; the ever- present conscience within every human being that connects one to the almighty Creator, would continue to disturb those who are manipulative.
As such, parents must ensure that their child does not only grow in one area, that is intellect, but also in other areas.
There are basically eight important areas of growth; goals, happiness, health, family, mind, money, social, and the most important of all being spiritual growth.
Unfortunately, most parents concentrate in one or two areas only and neglect the other areas.
Now, that is a problem.
There is so much problems ranging from global warming, massive destruction of rainforests, to religious fanaticism, and unnecessary wars taking place in the world at this present moment.
The truth is, if one spends time to critically think and analyze, many of these problems are taking place due to the imbalance in the eight areas in most people's lives.
It is through the collective thoughts, words and actions of people of the world that we cause these negative events to take place on our beloved planet.
As most people have great conflicts within themselves, it is reflected in the world outside as chaos.
Hence, the words of the wise comes into play here, "The world with-in is the world with-out"! The best time to instill a balance in the eight areas in a child is during childhood; this is most effective from the time the child is conceived up to the age of eight.
The reason is, at this tender age the subconscious mind is easier to be programmed.
However, it would be more difficult in an older person because by then there would be too many habit patterns and preconceived ideas that would prevent him or her to absorb new knowledge and put it into practice.
A number of them may be able to absorb the knowledge but would find it very difficult to put into practice! Programming of the subconscious mind of a child can be started as early as in pregnancy itself.
The methods are simple and effective; the mother could listen to motivational and awareness based audio cassettes whenever possible, or the father could read to the mother on Nature's Laws and also autobiographies of personalities who have done great service to mankind.
You may wonder how a child's subconscious mind can be programmed through the two methods described above.
A child's subconscious mind is wide open at young age since they have yet to acquire the skills to do thinking and reasoning which are connected to the conscious part of the mind.
As such, they just absorb the vibrations of whatever that is happening around them into the subconscious mind.
That is why pregnant mothers are always advised to be happy and not to think and worry too much about problems; being inside the womb of the mother allows the child to absorb the vibrations and feelings of the mother directly.
Even after the child is born and starts growing up, it is wise to continue with the reading and listening to the motivational and awareness based audio cassettes.
Creative thinking, intellectual development, learning self-defense and learning new languages should be next for the child to learn.
Slowly, the growth in the eight areas of a person's life can be introduced to the child; first, being goal setting.
Let's say that at a young age, the child is interested in sports, maybe badminton.
The parents can further encourage and motivate the child by bringing him or her to badminton tournaments to watch the professionals play.
This is a great method to inculcate the attitude of doing the best when they play the game at their school tournaments.
Getting books regarding the game, and books on great players around the world would also help the child to focus on the goal; by emulating great players, a child learns to stay focused and inspired.
However, a word of caution here, please make sure that the child is truly keen in the game and not 'forced' into it.
Sometimes parents have the tendency to force their children into sports that they think is good for the children.
However, if the child's heart is not there, all the effort would be wasted then! One of my masters relayed this beautifully, "Don't make your children grow, rather LET them grow!" One good example of setting goals for students to achieve excellence in school exams is to set the goal first before starting with anything else! First, buy an empty report card.
Sit with your child and talk to your child about setting the goal, to achieve the best possible results, and then fill up the report card as per the targeted goal.
Motivate your child by giving examples of those who have done well in their exams, graduated, live a comfortable life and at the same time contributing to society.
You can give examples of relatives or friends or even well known personalities to motivate your child.
Paste the report card on the wall of your child's bedroom, and make sure he or she looks at it before going to bed every night.
Help your child to visualize that he's receiving the report card from his teacher with the desired RESULTS, the goal.
Most parents simply order their children to sit and study, but what they do not realize is that there is more to just ordering or demanding.
Parents have an active role to play here; they can start by making available a table for the child to study, this will help create the right state of mind for the child to study.
Also, either both parents or one parent could take the effort to spend at least half an hour a day checking on the progress of the child's studies in school.
On top of that, both parents should portray a good example to the child in ways they think proper; one example would be by getting involved in their own reading at the time the child is studying.
Remember, your children practice what you do and not what you preach! Lead by example! Weekly trips to the local library or bookstores to buy some books would also encourage the idea of continuous learning in a child's mind.
Now, it does not just stop there.
This is just developing two areas of growth of the total eight great areas in a person's life, the eight great areas are goals, happiness, health, family, mind, money, social and the most important of all being the spiritual growth.
In the above that regards only studies, we have covered two areas, goals and mind.
Growth in the areas of happiness and health is very important; constant family activities together, for example an outing to the park, picnics, or movies create a harmonious environment for the child to grow up in.
Sometimes, it can just be a simple thing like having tea and sharing each others' goals and dreams.
These get together brings a family closer and creates joy in the hearts.
To ensure good health, daily morning or evening exercises and a proper diet will help.
Money too plays an important role in a person's life.
Although it may not be the most important, it is nevertheless important for one to at least survive in this present age.
As such, it is wise to cultivate a good savings habit from a young age.
You can start by opening a children's savings account at your local bank for your child.
As you give pocket money to your child when he or she goes to school, teach your child to keep a part of it for savings in a savings box.
When the savings box is full, bring your child to the bank to deposit it.
Make sure that your child sees his or her savings grow in the savings passbook balance.
All these help cultivate savings habit in your child from an early age.
Next would be growth in the area of social service.
For an example visiting old folk homes once in a while; you could cheer up the elders there by talking to them or providing the needed provisions.
By bringing your child along, it instills the habit of giving back to society while scaling new heights in the child's life.
Other ways of instilling this habit is by getting your child involved in the act of donating; donation here does not only mean in terms of money, but also clothes or provisions needed by those going through difficulties, i.
e.
natural disaster, etc.
Finally, the most important area of growth is spirituality.
There is a constant need to ask certain questions; who we are, why we are on this planet and what is the purpose of our existence.
It is very important for a child to continue asking these questions and discover the answers on their own, and the child should also continuously seek to become aware of his or her relationship with the whole of Nature.
A child can start learning about this through religion, or meditation, or by listening to great masters who have walked and are still walking the path of Truth.
However, it is very important to allow the child to think for himself or herself rather than just shoving down religious dogmas down the child's throat.
A child must be allowed to ask questions so that he or she gets involved in critical thinking and analyzing.
This would help avoid the child from being misled by religious fanatics who are usually concerned to pursue their selfish motives rather than the spiritual growth of the innocent child.
Parents must ensure that the person teaching their children religious studies or spirituality as a whole is truly experienced, moderate, and have a deep understanding of the philosophy that they teach through experience and awareness.
It is also vitally important to ensure that the act of practicing Nature's Laws in a truthful manner is instilled deep in the psyche of the child.
The gradual growth in all the eight areas would naturally ensure that the child grows up to be someone who is not only successful in whatever field that he or she chooses, but also becomes a useful human being to the society.
It is my sincere hope that through this article, parents would get a better idea on how to play their roles in ensuring proper growth in their children.
I am planning to write a book on children's complete growth soon.
The book would have much more details with regards to bringing up a child properly.
Currently, a few of my participants are already applying the aforesaid approach on their children, and it has produced and is producing phenomenal RESULTS.
I would be sharing their experiences in my book.
