- 1). Check your Internet connection. For example, examine the cable or DSL modem for a status light indicating Internet connectivity. If no indicator light is displayed, or if it is blinking, restart the modem and wait two minutes for the signal to resynchronize. If it does not resynchronize, contact your Internet service provider.
- 2). Restart your router, if you are using one. A router is essentially a small computer that runs an operating system. Just like any other device running an operating system, routers can occasionally crash or lock up. Restarting the router by disconnecting, then reconnecting the power cord fixes this problem.
- 3). Ensure the computer is connected to the modem or router. Check that both ends of the cable are plugged in tightly, for wired connections. Check whether the computer is associated with the wireless network, for wireless connections.
- 4). Try a different website. If you can connect to other websites, but not your desired site, the website in question is having Internet connection issues.
