Would you really like to be thin? Over my lifetime I have gone from thin to fat and back again many times over.
The women in my family are all overweight, and we all seem to gain weight really easily, (probably because we love to eat!) I have now been "thin" for about two years, so I would like to share my experiences and tell you how to get thin! But first, the downside.
Oh, yes, there is a downside to being thin! I was shocked to discover that reaching your ideal weight does not mean you will end up with a perfect, tiny figure.
I started off large and pear-shaped, and ended up small and still pear-shaped! Just don't have unrealistic expectations about how you're going to look, because certain physical attributes can't be changed - (except through surgery, but we're not going there!) You must also not have unrealistic expectations as to how being thin will change your life, because it really won't.
Your job will still be boring, your kids will still misbehave, and your partner will still...
well, you get the idea! Diets?...
I have in the past dieted myself into thinness, at one time going on a 1000 calorie-a-day diet, which was excruciatingly difficult, and probably not very healthy.
I did lose 40 lbs.
over a period of a few months, reached my ideal weight and then proceeded to gain it all back again, with added interest.
If you're going with a diet, choose it carefully in the knowledge that it should be for the long-term.
So here's how to get thin: By eating...
Eat the right things, and make it into a habit.
I always have salad and vegetables in my fridge, and try to fill my plate with these first.
Be careful at the grocery store not to make impulse purchases.
Personally, if I have potato chips in my cupboards, I won't have the willpower to resist, and I will eat them! The secret is to train yourself to give up the bad stuff and substitute the good, and to make eating the good stuff a habit.
Exercise...
I have found that I keep my weight down easier if I am active, and the more active, the better! It doesn't matter what you do, as long as you do something.
You will look and feel better, have more energy, burn more calories and fight off disease.
It is possible to lose weight through diet alone, but it's a lot harder.
Also, people with some muscle tone just look more attractive! Weigh yourself...
The experts tell us that we should only step on the scales once a week, or even not at all! I highly disagree with this.
At the risk of being labeled obsessed, I weigh myself every morning without fail.
This is really important for me, so that I can keep constant track.
If I am up a couple of pounds, I usually know why, and can try and fix the situation before it gets out of hand! I learned the hard way how to get thin.
It's not in the least easy.
The question is, now you know how to get thin, can you do it?
