Almost all of us have had them at one time in our lives.
Those unsightly blackheads that appear to be leering out at you from your mirror, daring you to go out in public.
Usually, they cluster at the greasiest parts of your face, the nose, the forehead, and the chin.
While you might be able to camouflage the ones on your forehead, the ones on your nose and chin are out there for the world to see.
Fortunately, there are a lot of ways to deal with this issue.
But the first thing you need to remember is to wash your hands and face often.
Bacteria can get on your skin and that is a sure fire way to end up with some unsightly blackheads.
So wash up.
The first impulse is to just squeeze the things.
Unfortunately, while this is a fast-acting solution, it's hard to get them all and the damage your fingernails do to your skin may take a while to heal.
There are other counterproductive things that most of us seem to do that just beg our pores to fill up with blackheads.
Ladies, any make up that is oil-based will happily fill your pores to help create blackheads.
Surprisingly enough, some of the harsh facial scrubs encourages our skin to fight back against the damage they are doing to it by increasing its oil production, thus clogging your pores and creating; you guessed it; more blackheads.
The least expensive thing that actually will help is to put a damp cloth on your face for 15-20 minutes before washing it to help soften the dead skin and make it easier to wipe it off along with dirt and other pore-clogging materials.
There are a couple of treatments on the market that use beta hydroxyl acid as their basis for exfoliating the skin, helping it to remove deceased skin cells and clear the pores.
Once the pores are cleared, the blackheads can come to the surface where they can be more easily removed.
Another treatment for blackheads is products that contain at least 2.
5% benzoyl peroxide.
Less than that percentage does not seem to help.
If you only have the occasional blackhead to remove, there are commercial treatments that will help by applying pressure to the areas around the blackheads, forcing them to the surface of your skin where they can be dealt with safely.
