Currently, the dominant thought is that terrorism is due to two factors. Terrorists operate due to social and political injustice or terrorists play the role of violence, because they feel they have no other means. These two factors are true, but they are unlikely to focus on the real cause of terrorism, which is flourishing, and will continue to do so if they are not taken seriously. Terrorists are not only radical Islamic groups but may consist of racist hate groups or criminals. The bottom line is that terrorism is driven by hate. Hate groups are violent simply because they want to kill.

In a sense we can say that some terrorists just feel that there is no other means to get their point across but upon closer examination I would have to disagree. Terrorists kill and attack innocent people because they are just plain twisted. There are many times that we are all frustrated because we may feel for whatever reason that we cant get our point across. Different people use different techniques because of their disposition.

Lets look at the civil right movements within the United States in the 60s. There were conflicting opinions among black Americans on hoe they should win their rights. Some such as The Black Panther Party advocated violence as a means of self defense. The Black Muslim in America took the same approach. The approach which invariably had the effect of winning that struggle was the nonviolent demonstrations of blacks in the South coupled with the boycotting of white owned businesses. My inclination is that people justify the approach which really fills some type of need deep within their own psyche.

The root of terror is hate. Violence is the way to satisfy and appease hate although it never really does. Terrorists always cite some sort of religious or moral belief or grounds for their actions but the truth is that their actions are more immoral than the perceived cause that they are fighting.

Terrorists in the Middle East are using children to do their dirty work now. They are kidnapping children as young as eight or nine years old and forcing them to wear suicide bombs. They have also resorted to killing children in order to coerce them or their parents into doing their will. There was one recent case in Afghanistan where terrorists gouged out the eyes of a young boy in order to blackmail his father into giving them a police vehicle to use. After they gouged his eyes out they strangled him to death. I dont know what noble cause this action served but I cant see it as anything less than a sadistic cry for attention. The purpose of this couldnt have anything else than to terrorize innocent people.

In another incident terrorists created an experimental new IED by placing explosives in a pop bottle. When they wanted to test its effectiveness they forced an eight year old child to step on it. After it exploded and critically wounded the child they left him there with his lower body looking like hamburger meat.

Terrorist acts do manage to get attention but the attention is not positive at all. I cant understand how they feel that violent acts carried out against innocent people will help their cause at all. Military Ring Express
