The holidays are a time to get together with family and friends. The excitement of Christmas also introduces us to decorating fever. With the added holiday reunions and events, place cards are a must. By coming up with decorative and different ideas, you can have your guests start up conversation about personalized Christmas place cards before the holiday festivities and eating commences.

    Pop-Up Place Card

    • Cut out a rectangular shape from decorative card stock. Use festive Christmas colors. Fold your card stock in accordion pleats. Each pleat should measure about a 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch in order to support each holiday cutout. Use your Christmas cookie cutters or draw your own shapes. Trace onto different color card stock or festive wrapping paper scraps. Mix your cutout sizes. Make one larger than the others. Write your guest's name on this cutout with a decorative pen. Add craft glue or a glue stick across the bottom of the cut-out and attach to your accordion pleat. You can add the cutouts in a random order. Let dry before decorating.

    Christmas Tree Place Card

    • Draw a simple three-tiered Christmas tree. Cut out two pieces of the tree on green card stock. On one tree, use your scissors to make a vertical 1/8-inch slit, starting from the bottom of the tree. Stop the slot approximately 1 1/2-inches from the tree top. On the second tree, cut a a vertical 1/8-inch slit, starting from the tree top to about 1 1/2-inches from the bottom. Spray adhesive or craft glue and add white or green glitter. Let dry. Once dry, insert the top slit from one tree into the bottom slit for a three-dimensional place card. Draw a star on decorative paper. Write your guest's nickname or funny reference with a metallic pen. Attach the star with your craft glue. Let dry before decorating.

    Christmas Ornament Place Card

    • Purchase round foam or blank ornaments. Spray adhesive. Add glitter in green, red and gold. You can also opt to personalize each ornament using your guest's favorite color combinations. Tie wire ribbon around the center of each ornament and make a bow. Use a decorative paint pen to write your guest's name on the opposite side of the ribbon. The lightweight ornament will naturally rest on the wire ribbon bow, exposing the decorated name. You can opt to add a 1/4 inch ribbon loop to the top of your ornament. The personalized ornament will also be a gift to your guest as a warm reminder of your holiday party.
