Hyderabad: MLCs heat is on in Congress and TDP political parties at present. It is become a challenge now for both these parties to finalise the candidates. Few hopeful leaders are busy into their lobbyings and few more have already started openly opposing their party's decisions. For the latest, Congress list is said to be ready with the names of Laxmi Sivakumari (Dwakra groups leader), Shabbir Ali (Ex-Minister), Karimnagar Ex-DCC president Veerabhadra Swamy, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, which are said to be almost finalised as of now.
In TDP, the leader in the council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao is almost ready to resign for his post of Politburo. He blamed Chandrababu to have kept him aside in the last minute and insulted him. He said there is no use in carrying out walkathons by insulting those who are working hard for the party. He had come in front of the media and expressed his depression over Babu's decision. TDP MPs Nama Nageswara rao and Sujana Chowdary are onto the job of pampering Dadi.
Chiranjeevi from Congress is also said to demanding for an MLC seat for atleast one from his team. Surprisingly, he had started the lobbying in the last minute. He had called up PCC Chief Botsa and had made this request is a news. State Minister C Ramachandraiah on his behalf is directly met Botsa and is carrying on talks. They are demanding to either give MLC ticket to either Kotagiri Vidyadahr Rao or Gowtham from their team.
Adireddy Appa Rao, a prominent backward class leader from Rajahmundry, would be the MLC candidate for YSR Congress, the party announced on Wednesday, while the scene for the Congress nominations shifts to Delhi. Appa Rao would file his nomination on March 8.
Appa Rao is the husband of Veera Raghavamma, former Telugu Desam mayor of Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation. He is also a close relative of the late TD leader K. Yerrannaidu. Appa Raos selection was based on his seniority in the YSRC and an advantage he is expected to bring for it from the Rajahmundry urban and rural Assembly segments.
TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao has announced Mohammad Ali as the partys MLC candidate. Ali, TRS minority wing chairman, would file his papers on Thursday. ALi had been defeated in the MLC polls two years ago. Back then, KCR took up the matter and announced the expulsion of three TRS MLAs for betrayal by way of cross-voting.
Both the YSRC and TRS are expected to bag a seat each in the MLC polls for the 10 seats from the Assembly quota, for which polling will be held on March 21. The nomination process that started on March 4 would conclude on March 11.
The ruling Congress and the main Opposition TD have not named their candidates so far. TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, now on his marathon padayatra, would finalise the candidates for the three seats only on March 11, the last day for nominations.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana are likely to leave for Delhi on Friday to meet the Congress high command and finalise five candidates for the polls and four under the Governors nomination quota.
There is already considerable name-pushing in Delhi. Over 100 Congress leaders are camping there to meet high command leaders to press their cases. Former ministers J.C. Diwakara Reddy, Gade Venkata Reddy and Paladugu Venkata Rao are trying to get a ticket for their former colleague Kanteti Satyanarayana Raju.
