Varicose veins appear in both men and women, but more frequently in women.
The visible appearance of veins on the skin can be disturbing.
They are large, bulging veins often associated with pain, fatigue and swelling or achy legs, sometimes even more serious complications such as blood clots and leg ulcers.
This procedure allows for the removal of large surface veins and may be performed in conjunction with endovenous laser ablation or other therapies for varicose veins.
It is done in the office under local anesthesia.
This procedure involves making tiny punctures or incisions through which the varicose veins are removed.
The incisions are so small no stitches are required.
Skin incisions or needle punctures as small as 1 mm are used to extract veins with a phlebectomy hook.
A hook is inserted into a micro-incision in the leg.
A section of the vein is hooked and then removed through the incision.
With this procedure, a compression bandage is worn for two weeks.
This minimizes swelling and discomfort and allows for proper healing.
Patients can go back to work and normal activity after 24 hours.
They are asked to keep the leg elevated and stay off their feet for the first day.
Also, a support stocking is worn for one week.
Possible Side Effects: 1.
Slight bruising 2.
Temporary numbness Other advantages of microphlebectomy include immediate elimination of the unsightly varicose vein, minimal discomfort, good cosmetic results, and avoidance of possible painful thrombosis in the varicose after ablation of the source of high pressure has been carried out.
Its important to differentiate between the types of varicose veins because the treatment for varicose veins is different for each.
Cost is depending on what treatment is used.
Medical Insurance also covered in this treatment.
