A simple technique to make money betting on football

This summer we launched the Soccerlens Predictor – a community-based prediction tool to help Soccerlens readers predict results for football matches and track their virtual winnings against other members.

It's not perfect yet, but recent tests have shown that the ‘Top Advisors' feature – a cornerstone of the Predictor's community-based predictions model – is a nearly-guaranteed method of making money from betting on football week in and week out.

Here's how it works:

For each match the Predictor produces up to 3 “Top Advisors†prediction (there are cases when there's isn't a clear prediction and in such case we choose to show “No Predictionâ€). These three predictions are the Home and Away teams’ top 20 predictors and BetUknow’s overall top 20 predictors.

We decided to conduct a short test to check how good these predictions are. We checked these three predictions for all of the matches which took place between Saturday, September the 13th, to Monday, the 22nd, including both Premiership and Champions League matches.

To make a long story short â€" using the tips of BetUknow’s Top Advisors would give you a net profit of 23% In other words, net gains of £23 for any £100 you risk.

Let us be more accurate:

• The net gains of the Top Advisors on the Premiership week 4 matches were 56% (including hitting it right on Hull’s shock win over Newcastle).
• The Champions League matches, taking place on the following Tuesday and Wednesday, went quite all right, as the Top Advisors managed to get nice 40% on their virtual investment.
• Unfortunately, Week 5 of the Premiership saw our Top Advisors slipping and losing 33% (placing £1000, losing £330 of it).

These ups and downs can be related to the relative lack of knowledge in the beginning of the seasons. People still see Hull City as a weak team which gained promotion through the playoffs, and tend to ignore their impressive record this season.

This minor slip proves the authenticity of the Betting tool, as there are cases where even the Top Advisors find it hard, but all in all â€" coming out with a nice profit is not something most punters are used to.

To sum the numbers up â€" during this period of time, our Top Advisors made a total of 55 predictions. If, in theory, you would place £100 on each of these, you would come up with £1314 – net gains of 23.8%.

These numbers talk for themselves. We altered or manipulated nothing, as you can make the same test yourself. This, yet again, proves our concept that the wits of the many are far better than the wisdom of the one, when it comes to predicting the outcome of a football match.
