It is easy, in our day-to-day hectic lives, to feel out of control. We need to find the time and the space to unwind and decompress. There are a number of ways and places where we can become zen again, including:
Reiki:
Reiki is a spiritual practice developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. Reiki uses a technique called palm healing where practitioners transfer healing energy through their palms. To lie on the table and have energy moved around in your body while you have the space and time to think about the things on your mind and come to terms with how you're going to deal with them is very calming. It can re-centre you in ways you didn't imagine possible.
Yoga:
Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual discipline, originating in ancient India. The goal of yoga is the attainment of a state of perfect spiritual insight and tranquillity. In addition to being physically demanding, yoga works on calming and opening your mind. It encourages people to let go of their negative energy and become more forgiving and appreciative people. By doing balancing exercises where you're required to focus on one point, the mind can rarely focus on much else. By stretching up and bending down, we our pushing our bodies while opening them up to the world and letting anxieties wash away.
Feng Shui:
Feng shui is an ancient Chinese system of aesthetics, where positive qi is improved by moving a space around so that it abides by the laws of Heaven and Earth. Even if you're not going to abide by these laws specifically, creating an open, but calming environment in your home, will increase your chances of feeling relaxed when you're in it. If being surrounded by books calms you, then build bookshelves or libraries in as many parts of your home as you can. If comfortable armchairs you can sink into in front of a fire will relax you, then purchase some wicked furniture with big comfy pillows.
Spa:
The spa tends to relax most people. Spas are so quiet it's almost as if time stops when we're in them. Guests can choose from whichever treatments they want - mud baths, full body wraps, facials, massages and more. Typically, full service spas, will also provide you with nutritious and delicious foods to eat. They are often located in the countryside where there is plenty of room to walk and take bike rides and simply unwind.
