Acne Free - Combat Acne the Natural Way, by Drinking Tea!

Acne is a complex condition with no rest bite for many people, no matter what diet, medication or cleansing routine they are undertaking.
It is simply a traumatic condition that really knows how to take hold and the more stressed you become, the greater the acne will revel in your stress.
Many people have found breakthroughs in different natural approaches to combating acne or at least getting their condition under some kind of control.
The saying 'have a cup of tea and it will all be fine' is quite common.
But there is evidence that by drinking some kinds of tea on a regular basis (and when we say regular we are talking several cups a day so it helps to be an avid tea drinker and dedicated to drinking it religiously).
Possibly the most popular tea with known acne fighting properties is green tea.
We know that green tea is packed full of antioxidants thanks to a lot of publicity over the last few years.
But Green tea with honeysuckle has been labelled 'pimple tea' in China for generations.
Green tea does contain caffeine and whilst acne sufferers are recommended to stay away from caffeine, what makes green tea different from regular black tea is that the leaves used for green tea are not fermented once picked.
It is actually steamed soon after instead to prevent oxidation of the leaves.
This then helps to retain the active substances within the leaves, namely the antioxidants that we know are good for us.
We need these antioxidants to fight the free radicals that threaten to invade our bodies and cause damage to our skin cells.
We can also benefit from them by drinking green tea after a meal to help detoxify and remove acne-causing toxins.
The antioxidants we are talking about include Polyphenols which have an array of properties to promote good health and the potent Epigallocatechin Gallate.
In addition to its healthy properties, green tea is also highly antibacterial which can help calm inflammation and has been known to help decrease hormone activity, another culprit in the acne debate.
Interestingly, a scientific study in 2003 was undertaken which compared the effects of a green tea-based acne cream with that of a typical (not to mention notorious) 4% Benzoyl Peroxide lotion.
The results showed that there was little difference in the results, claiming that those preferring to treat acne the natural way could do so without having to compromise on getting successful results.
Another popular and natural treatment for acne is nettle tea.
Nettle has been proven to have anti-inflammatory properties to calm the acne but also stimulate circulation of the blood.
The easiest way to consume nettle tea is in tea bags from your local supermarket or, if you prefer, you can make it directly from the leaves.
To make nettle tea this way, you should soak 4-6 teaspoons of dried nettle leaves or root in about 6 ounces of water.
To get the maximum effects of nettle tea on your quest to be acne free, it is recommended that you drink 3 to 4 cups a day.
Try to be resilient as you will not see results overnight, but you will feel the benefits in time.
A final tea to comment on is burdock tea, which is made from burdock root or leaves.
Again it can be found widely on supermarket shelves, often combined with other natural substances like dandelion, yellow dock and sarsaparilla, which all in turn contain properties to aid skin conditions.
What makes drinking burdock tea useful in fighting acne is the way it acts as a liver cleanser by stimulating the secretion of bile.
In doing so it therefore helps to get rid of toxins in the body quickly, before they can take root and appear on the skin.
You should aim to drink burdock tea three times a day or even prepare burdock leaves as a wash, to help smooth the skin's surface.
You will not wake up acne free straight away by drinking these teas but if you religiously incorporate some of them into your diet, you will be going in the right direction to gain from their acne free properties.
