Whether it is a birthday, Christmas or another gift giving opportunity, we seem to get stumped as to what the receiver would enjoy.
Everyone has different needs, but adults can be especially difficult to buy for.
Chances are they may need a new roof or furnace, but that isn't within most people's gift giving budgets.
So what do you do when you want to give a gift that they will enjoy, but not be burdened with, such as another thing that needs dusting? Think outside the box.
If you feel that the gift needs to be physically seen, you could be in trouble here.
Most people are tired of what they already have in their homes.
This is a time of decluttering, so another addition to one's old collection may not be appropriate.
Instead consider a gift that gets `used up.
' Sometimes a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant is perfect.
How about the gift of a window washer? Consider a stress reducing gift.
If the receiver is not receptive to a massage, consider getting them an appointment for a half hour chair massage.
Having energy work done is a terrific relaxer any time of the year.
How about a hair treatment complete with color, conditioning, scalp massage and a new cut and style? Pedicures also work for both men and women.
Keep in mind, just because a person has never had a spa treatment doesn't mean they wouldn't enjoy it.
Book stores are great places to find the perfect gift in.
Books get read and passed on to the next reader.
They also carry many different options to enhance the reading experience such as magnifiers, or book lights.
How about filling a basket with chutney, cheeses, crackers and fresh roasted coffee or tea? Time is a wonderful gift.
Taking a meal over to anyone is appreciated.
How about committing yourself to writing letters for someone who no longer has the ability, but would still like to send out a few notes? A gift that doesn't hang around long can be the perfect solution.
Don't forget a fresh bouquet of flowers.
