Lansing is the capital city of Michigan, known for its central position and located less than two hours away from Detroit. The Lansing official website describes itself as a small, charming community "combined with the excitement and sophistication of a big city." The greater area of Lansing extends into East Lansing, home of the well-known Michigan State University. While the Korean population in Lansing, Michigan, is small, there is some authentic Korean cuisine to be found.

    Korea House Restaurant

    • This small restaurant is a favorite to locals and is known for its quick, convenient service and cheap prices. Private parking is available, and takeout orders are offered. However, alcohol is not served and reservations are not taken; it is first-come first-serve only. Dining is casual, and daily lunch specials are available. While the lunch specials are an excellent deal -- around $5, as of December 2010 -- don't forget to bring cash or you will get stuck with a credit card fee. Some of the popular dishes served are dokbokki and champong noodles.

    Emo's Korean Cafe

    • If you want fast, cheap food, this is the place to go. Restaurant hours are from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, with reduced hours Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 8:45 p.m.. Emo's caters to hungry college students and delivers to the college area for a $2 fee. An excellent selection of vegetarian entrees is available, including tofu bibimbap, chopcae, spicy veggie stir-fry and many more, priced between $4 and $8, as of December 2010.

    Sushi Moto

    • This upscale Korean Japanese fusion restaurant was designed by Korean-born head chef Jeong Hyun. Using his lifelong experience as a sushi chef in both Korea and the United States, Sushi Moto is known as the best sushi bar in Lansing. Some of the signature rolls offered are the volcano roll, candy roll, Elmwood roll and house roll. Further sushi selections are creatively divided into "his" and "her" sections on the menu. For those who want tradition Korean cuisine, the bibimbap and bul go ki are offered.
