Memorable Best Man Speeches

You Get The Call

You're enjoying a quiet evening alone when you get a call from your best friend. When you see his number on caller ID, you're hoping he's got some great plan for the evening for the both of you. Instead he tells you that he's just asked his dream girl to marry him. And, he wants you to be his Best Man! It's no big deal to go to the wedding and stick by your best friend while he gets married, but being the Best Man and have to give a wedding toast and speech - that's a bit nerve-racking.

Panic Sets In

There is in fact a lot of anxiety for most people when faced with having to say something in front of a large audience. In fact I'll bet you went to Google, Bing, or Yahoo to search for wedding speeches and/or wedding toasts. It is indeed a very scary act to speak in front of an audience because whatever you say cannot be retracted, and if you say anything bad, you'll never live it down.

Speech Tips and Tricks

To avoid being anxious in situations like these, this article will provide some tips for you to consider when you prepare for your wedding speech:

1. Plan Your Speech

When creating a best man wedding speech, the simpler the better! All you need to do is recall all the memories of the groom and demonstrate your genuine care for the couple. Hopefully, you're not planning on just standing at the front of the wedding guests and talk about whatever comes to your mind. Take time to make an outline about what you feel and what you want to say. It would be best if you wrote out the entire speech.

2. What to Say

The speech can include things about the groom that make the bride feel safe about marrying the groom. And make her feel secure about the future of their marriage together. The best man usually begins his speech at the wedding reception by telling a good tasteful joke about weddings or marriages. Forget the preaching, go with the memories that most of the people would relate to. Do not offer "unsolicited advice ". Let the marriage counselor or pastor deal with that. Instead, give them stories. Most couples welcome the nostalgia of a few well chosen anecdotes. Find a funny or a touching memory that you can share with the couple and their guests. Share about how long you've known the groom and facts about the friendship. Use Important factors you think will reassure the new bride about her husband. Share the fact that you (as the groom's best friend) hope that you will become a close friend to the new bride as well.

Nearly every speech given at any wedding by the best man says generally the same thing, so you need to add things that no one could possibly think of to share. Whether you choose to be lighthearted and funny or very serious, you need to make sure the speech says exactly what would encourage the married couple to be happy in a lasting marriage. If the new bride trusts you as the best man and her husband's best friend then the two of you will still be able to hang out and have fun after the wedding. The best man's speech must be sincere and meaningful so as not to hurt feelings and alienate the bride. Words of true friendship expressed as only the very best friend can put them. The best man must also remember that weddings are not the place for stories from the good ole days. This is generally not proper wedding conversation. Topics of this nature are usually embarrassing to both the groom and the bride and others may also be offended.

The best man generally knows the groom much better than anyone else at the event; maybe even better than the groom's own parents. The best man may give some good advice directed toward the new bride. The new bride should take the words of wisdom to heart for the future of the marriage. The best man's job is to encourage the groom and letting him know you feel he is doing the right thing for both he and his new wife.

3. Practice Your Speech,br>
If you don't want to seem to be stupid at the wedding event, then you should practice many times. This is the greatest event of your friend's life, so you don't want to make it terrible just because of your poor performance as best man. So after writing down your speech, practice it at least four times. You may also practice using a mirror - it could be a huge help. You usually retain what you practice and if you practice enough, you might not even have to look at the paper or read your speech at the wedding reception. You can just talk while simultaneously glancing at your notes or speech and you won't even fail to remember all the points you wanted to include.

Remember to make it memorable and encouraging.
