So you've decided that you want to go on hoilday to Algarve in Portugal, but now you need to decide which resort you want to go to. There are several resorts to choose from, and each one has its pros and cons. Vilamoura, Albufiera and Lagos are three very popular resorts,so we'll look at the difference between each of these.
vilamoura is a very popular resort, one of the reasons is due to the fact that it is only 10 miles away from Faro airport, which is quite a short distance. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a place with loads of activities.
Bars, beaches, shops, and restaurants... Vilamoura has them all. It is also home to 6 golf courses, a tennis centre and a riding school. Furthermore there are several water activities that you can participate in, such as diving, swimming and deep sea fishing.
You also have the opportunity to swim with dolphins at the Zoomarine centre. Food is generally expensive at this resort, but it is of a high quality. However there is KFC and Mcdonalds if you are looking for something cheaper.
Albufiera- is a great resort to visit and has a lively nightlife, there are several bars and clubs which are scattered all over The Strip. If you're not sure about which clubs to visit try Trigonometria for a start, it is one of the most popular clubs, and plays great music.
The presence of numerous clubs may put you off visiting this resort if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, however it shouldn't because the other half of Albufiera (which is known as Old Town) is the complete opposite. Here you will find lovely relaxing beaches away from the tourists, restaurants that serve tasty fish dishes, bars, and souvenir shops.
During the day you can laze about on one of Albufieras many beaches, or visit its monuments including Capela da Misericrdia, Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Orada and Castelo de Paderne, which are all historic buildings.
Lagos is a beautiful town and it is great for a relaxing break because it's quieter than the other resorts due to its distance from the airports. This means that you will be away from the majority of tourists. The town itself is steeped in history and this is reflected in its architecture, with its narrow streets and medieval walls.
The beach at Lagos is beautiful and has some interesting cliff and rock formations. If you get the chance you should go on a cliff walk so that you can appreciate the beautiful scenery of your surroundings. There are also restaurants that serve traditional Portugese cuisine, and they are not too expensive. If you would like a relaxing experience you'll be glad to know that there are a few spas near the town, such as the essential spa at Boavista.
