Many people nowadays have been trying to make use of yeast-free diets in their daily intake of food.
A yeast-free diet, which is also commonly known as a Candida-free diet, is a form of a diet designed to minimize, if not eliminate, the intake of foods which are contributing factors of the growth of Candida yeasts in our body.
There are six types of yeasts that thrive in a human body, and the most common of these is the Candida albicans.
This yeast is very common in the moist parts of our body, which includes the area inside our mouth, the digestive tract, the urinary tract, and the vaginal canal.
There may come a time when the tolerance level of the Candida yeasts shoot to beyond normal and this usually happens when there is an imbalance between the yeast and the bacteria that feed on them.
Contributing factors to such an imbalance are the following: the intake of antibiotics, birth control pills, and cortisone medication, and other factors such as fatigue, stress, and anything else that weakens our immune system.
These, in turn, result to yeast infections.
Yeast infections come in a variety of forms.
A yeast overgrowth in the mouth is referred to as "thrush", while the one which takes place in the vagina is called "vaginitis" or "candidiasis" (or more simply known as "vaginal yeast infection").
While these yeast infections can become obvious, other forms of yeast infections are sometimes misdiagnosed for weeks or months due to imperceptible symptoms.
A candidiasis which occurs in the digestive tract and in the intestinal tract can remain invisible and untreated for weeks or months.
When this happens, it may result to further complications in the person's immune system and well-being.
A more damage-causing yeast infection, the "invasive candidiasis" or "candidemia" occurs when yeasts or yeast toxins enter the bloodstream, usually as a result of an injury or surgery.
This type of yeast infection in the blood can lead to damages in the kidney, liver, spleen, joints, and eyes.
Considering all these, many people are encouraged to take the yeast-free diet, especially those which are already experiencing the symptoms of a yeast infection.
This diet usually takes 3 to 6 weeks to complete, and is typically composed of foods that do not have sugary content in them, since yeasts are known to feed on the sugar in the body.
A yeast-free diet helps people not only to fight off the irregular growth of yeasts in the body but to boost his immune system, as well.
Eventually, through a yeast-free diet, a person can detach his dependence on foods that highly contribute to yeast buildup in the body, and live a healthy and a more productive life.
