An Update from Adaptive Swimmer John Mohler

It has been quite a while since I last updated you on my swimming career. I have left Nova Masters, due to creative differences, and distance for my required training. I am training with two different clubs now in my home town, Mission Viejo, Ca. I am training with the Mission Viejo Masters, coached by Mark Moore, and with the Saddleback Valley YMCA Triathlon Club, coached by Coach Costello.
I did have some setbacks, during the last six months, but I have also had new ventures, that have revived me to keep pressing towards the 2008 Paralympics Summer Games.

I am now working for the YMCA of Orange County, where I am working with the Teen Center, running the Character Counts Program, and assisting with the At-Risk Youth Program.

I will also be Volunteering at YMCA Camp Oakes, as a Camp Counselor. I have been involved with the YMCA since 1979, and have been Volunteering since 1986. It is the YMCA that has given me the resources I need to stay on track to the Paralympics Games. The YMCA is one of my Sponsors that are allowing me to train in their facility, which is just up the walk from the Mission Viejo Masters Nadadores Swimming Center.

I have many people assisting me along the way to China. The Ray of Life Foundation, PHFE, YMCA of Orange County, Mission Viejo Masters Nadadores, Saddleback Valley YMCA Triathlon Club, Orange County Triathlon Club, Challenged Athletes Foundation, and many other business, and people that are involved directly, and indirectly.

I have also changed my training regimen from sprinting to long distance. I have found that I have much better form, and speed swimming out a 400, 800, and my favorite the 1,500.

I am also starting to train with the Triathlon club, as an outlet for dry land training, and I am in the Gym hitting the weights. I have coaches, personal trainers, physical therapists, and a personal massage therapist.

I may not be the best swimmer, or the fastest, and I may not be #1, but I love what I am doing, not just for the LOVE of the Sport, and staying in Good Shape, but the fact that I have not changed my life, but the lives of the people around me, especially the children, where I hope to be a Swimming Coach for the Disabled, when I return from China.

I ask for all of you to pray for me, that I stay strong and steadfast in my venture, that I may not change my life, but lives of people around me for the good, and for the Children.

Thank you Very much,

John B. Mohler
