Golfing On The Outer Banks

Take a moment to imagine this setting: Ocean breezes blowing gently across barrier islands, beautiful coastal beaches, protected wetlands and ever-changing sand dunes, each one sculpted by nature.
Then, imagine the weather: a long mild autumn and pleasant spring season, not too hot in summer, nor too cold in winter.
Finally, imagine endless days of clear skies and beautiful sunsets overlooking several luxurious and distinct year-round golf courses.
These are just a few reasons to plan your next golfing vacation in Currituck County.
Golfing on the Currituck Outer Banks? Why? When presented with a seemingly endless stretch of beaches, warm Atlantic waters, fresh seafood and produce, natural wildlife and rich local history combined with six fantastic golf courses, a better question to ask is, why not? Currituck's six golf courses each have their own personalities, and each offers a distinct layout.
Five beautiful courses are located at the southern end of CurrituckCounty's mainland section, while one stunning waterfront course lies in Corolla, on the Currituck Outer Banks.
Golfers of all skill levels, from the experienced pro to the recreational beginner, will find a course to fit their game throughout Currituck County.
Kilmarlic Golf Club, located in Powell's Point, is the newest of the six courses and sits nearly hidden in a heavily wooded, beautiful housing development.
Though it is not a very long course, at only 6,500 yards, Kilmarlic is challenging course, especially with an afternoon ocean breeze.
It has fantastic par-3s, including two that go over water.
The Carolina Club, near Grandy, attracts players of all ages with an open and inviting design that includes several of its own challenges.
The 7,000 yard, par 72 course features bent-grass greens and a stunning island green.
Clusters of trees provide a nice challenge.
The Pointe Golf Club, in Powell's Point, is a tough but fair course, and very well-maintained.
This challenging, player-friendly course features bent grass greens and plush fairways adorned with pines, wax myrtles and cypresses, adding to the course's natural beauty.
Goose Creek Golf and Country Club, in Grandy, is an excellent choice for recreational golfers.
The 6,200 yard, par 72 layout is to the public open year-round and includes a driving range.
Holly Ridge Golf Course, located in Harbinger, is also a shorter course that will challenge the occasional golfer.
With a par 71 18-hole course over 5,500 yards, Holly Ridge allows golfers of all ages to play their game in a relaxed environment.
The Currituck Club, in Corolla, is the only golf course on the Currituck Outer Banks.
Designed by Rees Jones, son of the famed Robert Trent Jones, Sr.
, the Currituck Club is beautifully maintained within its waterside setting.
With the Currituck Sound along the left side of the course, it is a gorgeous arrangement for a golfing adventure.
After your golf round is completed, check out everything else the Currituck Outer Banks has to offer.
Enjoy the delicious restaurants, eclectic shopping opportunities, wild horse tours, outdoor excursions, historical attractions and some of the most beautiful beaches in the country.
