Hockey coaches work with their players on and off the ice to help them develop the skills necessary to play the game.
They also try and develop these skills to the youths full potential to give the youth a better chance of reaching the ultimate level of playing.
What is the ultimate level? The NHL of course.
No matter what size the youth is, how fast or quick, there is one trait that just can not be taught.
This trait is passion for the game! You can teach how to shoot the puck, how to play defense, where to be in what situations and what to do in certain circumstances.
What you can not teach a player is to have passion for the game.
What is passion for the game? All youth hockey players can stick handle, shoot, play defense.
These type of players can be found anywhere at anytime.
The player that has the drive to be the best has passion for the game.
The player that stays late and practices more than the other players, the player that chooses to show up for every game and play the best he or she can, the player that is willing to do what all the rest won't.
That is the player that has passion for the game of hockey! Great players make a choice.
That choice is to be the best whether it be a big game, a regular season game, a playoff game or just practice.
This type of player will go all out in drills and games.
