Our marriages are constantly being confronted with different problems. Are we proffering solutions? Are the challenges reducing or increasing? We would simply have to look at the state of lot's of marriages today to offer an answer. We would discuss this as we proceed.

I'm constantly stumped by this question. Can we say that the challenges marriages are having today are more than those encountered by previous marriages? The increase in occurrences of infidelity in marriage has me wondering if it's caused by the rise in challenges currently being encountered by marriages.

If we are to carefully examine the challenges encountered by marriages now and those faced by older marriages, we would sincerely see that the challenges may not have increased. I can only say that the manner in which we take these problems have changed.

One thing everybody knows is greatly required to build a successful marriage is communication. The only way to establish proper communication in a marriage is to spend good time together. This is where the challenge for a lot of people begins. The length of time we spend in our homes pale when compared with the time spent at our business places. We can now see why we see lot's of cases of affairs taking place in our workplaces.

Recently while discussing with a pal, he mentioned one challenge that marriages now face which I found fascinating. A research was conducted and it was found that couples with television sets in their bedrooms had higher chances of having issues. The reason given was that if an issue becomes very intense, one of the couple could simply just tune off from the discussion and start watching the television. The presence of the television as an alternative means they don't have to talk to themselves.

We've only been shown a little thing that can have serious consequences on our marriages. We're regular in the midst of so much to choose from by way of distractions. This issue of alternatives has led many people into affairs, leaving their spouses to learn how to cope with infidelity.

In the past, there weren't too many options. folks either went to a bar or simply went on a walk when upset. Today, you can simply get immersed in the internet, social media or television. I have many times seen folks who are in the company of their spouses and are busy on a social media network conversing with someone else. How sick is this?

One thing I know is our greatest issue today is using our time carefully so we can have time for our partners. We must begin to have periods we switch off our Ipads, televisions etc and simply talk with our spouses. We can't allow inventions that were meant to aid us begin to tear the very fabric of our society.

Everything has always been an issue of choice and this is not different. You have to decide if you want to build your marriage by making time for it.
