Be In Harmony

Find the melody in life.
Be in harmony.
In the present world, there is much discord within families, communities, and nations.
There is hardly any individual that is not impacted by discord at home, in the physical workplace or the community at large where he or she lives.
The strife and conflict that abound in the world have a profound negative impact on our psychological and spiritual well-being as well as our physical health In musical terminology, a well composed song or melody, as defined by the Webster dictionary, is a "rhythmic succession of single tones organized into an aesthetic whole.
" The melody can be defined as a succession of tones arranged in some meaningful pattern.
The tones can rise and fall, communicating meanings to those of us who listen.
Harmony, on the other hand, supports the melody, and serves as the background.
In the simplest definition, harmony, consists of chords within the rhythmic pattern that provide an accompaniment.
For the seasoned musician, the left hand often plays the accompaniment while the right hand plays the tune or melody.
To be in harmony with a discordant world is not possible without transcending it.
Nobody can be in harmony with quarrelsome family members or uncooperative co-workers or a local community torn by crime and political corruption.
To be in harmony within oneself and with a Spiritual Being suggests a higher order of consciousness with corresponding values of faith and strength, love and wisdom, will and power, spiritual order and zeal, understanding and imagination, regeneration and elimination.
Harmony can only be achieved by building up these virtues and balancing their polar aspects.
These recognized virtues are the melody of our lives.
As we strive for living the melody of greater love, understanding, wisdom, order and zeal, we become more harmonious within ourselves and with others.
Opportunities present to allow us to find the harmony of living at peace with others and finding a common ground for peace and cooperation.
How do we find the dynamics that leads to greater harmony? In music, dynamics refers to the element of power, volume, softness and loudness.
It is what highlights the piece or gives it a particular shade.
In life, we all have relationships that are soft and nurturing, and others that are forceful and loud.
With some relationships, we learn to be strong and endure; with others we are nurtured and loved.
To be in harmony, we look for the common ground that will allow the melody of higher virtues to flow.
We take that which nourishes us and discard those discordant relationships and situations that harm our growth.
Every day is an opportunity for growth and learning from others.
There are opportunities to be in harmony with nature, animals, family, church and community.
Consider a few examples to bring harmony to your life: 1.
Grow a flower and vegetable garden.
Plant trees and flowers in harmonious groupings that are pleasing to the eye.
2.
Adopt a pet.
Find an unloved cat, dog or horse that will bring greater harmony to your personal life.
Look for ways to bring out the best traits in your pet.
3.
Develop a harmonious relationship with just one family member or relative who wants to grow and be a better person.
Nurture the relationship.
4.
Volunteer for church ministries or for local charities that will bring greater harmony and good to the community.
5.
Listen to harmonious music that can inspire you.
If you have the opportunity, learn to play a musical instrument.
6.
Meditate and pray for a more harmonious world where people learn to cooperate and be at peace.
7.
Sing a pleasant melody that can be sung around others.
Find the melody in life.
Be in harmony.
