Closets are probably one of the most abused areas in the house.
While many closets are neat and tidy, it is also a fact that many are so cluttered and in disarray.
We may love our closets, but are they presentable enough? Does your closet seem to portray a barrage of mudslide as you open its doors or are you taking all the time in the world just to find an accessory you urgently need to wear? If so, then it is of no doubt that you've got some serious closet organization task to do.
You may dread the task or don't have the tenacity to sustain the effort or organizing your closet, but you have to face the fact that something should be done with your disorderly closet.
There are actually some benefits you will be able to get in the long run.
Probably the greatest benefit you will learn how to be organized in life just by simply learning how to organize a closet because the principles are just similar.
So are you now inclined to move forward and get your closet the attention it deserves? But before you finally get to commence on organizing your chaotic closet, keep in mind that this may not be quick.
It will vary depending on some factors such as: closet size, amount of closet stuff, and how you really commit yourself into this thing with consistency.
Of course, you can always get the services of a home organization expert if you've got some change to spare because those services do not come cheap.
But if you have a do-it-yourself inclination, then you can absolutely do it.
Organizing the closet does not require special skills or special talent.
Let's get on ahead with it.
1.
First, you have to set a schedule to do this stuff...
probably during the weekends where you've got plenty of hours to spare.
Not only that, you can also get the kids or your spouse to assist you in getting on with it.
You can either sweet talk them, cajole them, or even blackmail them to help you out.
The more hands, the better.
This way, things are a bit quicker to accomplish.
2.
Secure some empty boxes and write some labeling words on them such as: accessories, favorite clothes, designer clothes, casual wear, underwear, undergarments, and so on.
Depending on how diverse your portfolio of clothes is, the number of boxes you will need can vary.
However though, you can still group the clothes together either on the bed or on the floor if you ever run out of boxes.
3.
Explore the idea of purchasing a closet organizer.
There are already a wide range of closet organizing aides which can be had at very affordable costs.
Wire closet organizers can be purchased at $60 at your favorite home decor store.
You don't have to go for the exotic organizer systems.
Unless you've got more cash to spare, then high-end closet organization systems can be quite appealing such as the elegant-looking wood closet organizer.
But if you can't afford to shell out some bucks yet, do not fret.
You can still accomplish the task.
4.
This is the most cumbersome task.
If you've got some help, then you don't have to sweat this out.
But if you are on your own, be ready to accept that this will take some time.
You will have to totally empty all the things inside the closet, one by one, piece by piece, and put them in the empty boxes you just prepared.
Group the clothes belonging to the same category together.
One bonus that comes with this is that you may just end up finding some stuff that you have been looking for earlier.
You may just end up finding that your wool gloves are just hiding between the clothes that you haven't worn for quite some time already.
5.
Once you have grouped the stuff you just emptied from the closet, it's now time to segregate further those that you still want to use or wear.
Ask yourself some questions like: "Do I really still want to wear this blouse?" or "Do I still need this rickety looking shirt?" You will just realize that your closet is stuffed with clothes you haven't worn for years.
6.
Now it's time to put the clothes you still prefer to keep back in the closet.
Keep in mind that you should put things back in proper perspective.
Group similar category of clothes together.
If you just hastily put them back and end mixing them up, then you will be back to square one.
7.
Give yourself a pat in the back for a nice work of organizing your closet.
Most likely, you will find your closet amazing now.
