Three Things to Check Before Buying a Portable Indoor Heater

Portable indoor heaters can help save you money as they can heat small areas of the house that you are currently in as opposed to trying to heat every room in your home.
They are also good for areas like the garage where for some it's hard to install the larger more industrial type heaters.
The portable heaters for the most part can be plugged in an used wherever.
Despite the convenience there are a few things you should check before buying one.
Safety Features Most portable indoor heaters are fairly safe today because manufacturers make them to certain safety standards.
Many have tip over protection meaning the heater shuts off when bumped.
Most have an overheating switch off that turns off the heater if it's left on too long and is getting too hot.
It's best to find one that has both to ensure more safety.
Recall Issues One thing to check on, especially if buying a used one, is if the heater has had a recall.
It doesn't happen too often but every once in awhile a portable heater is recalled because it wasn't too safe.
Reviews Almost every portable heater states that it's a good heater, will make you warm, has a quiet fan, and will save you money.
A reviewer of the product will tell you quickly if any of these are untrue.
With enough reviews, you will also get a general idea of how long the heater might last.
If many complain about a short three month lifespan, then just expect yours to last about that long too.
