OCD Forum - Education is the Key to Becoming OCD Free! How to Choose the Right Books

Have you ever gone to the bookstore and realized that there are seemingly endless books on OCD's, Phobia's, Anxieties, etc.
How are we to choose the right books that will give us the right education and at the right price? Here is a simple method that I use to decide which book to choose.
I read the inside and outside covers of the book, I especially like authors who are ex-sufferers of the condition that they are writing about.
I like them because you know that they know what you are going through and they will be able to give special insight that someone without experience cannot give.
This does not bar authors who have not experienced it themselves.
They provide an insight and a mindset that we should learn from.
After all, if we thought like they did, we would not have OCD, Anxiety and things like that? I also look for testimonials by credible people about the book.
If a big name is praising the book, it's probably a better book than some of the others, however, there are always exceptions.
In the end, you've got to be your own judge.
Choose the book that you like the best! Trust me, if you like the book, you'll read it.
If you don't like the style, you'll never read it and it will just be wasted money and a waste of space.
It's important for you to look at the book as a tool that you are going to use.
So make sure to pick a tool that is comfortable for you.
Pick a book or audio cd that will have you engaged and keep your interested.
Also remember that most major bookstores have a 30 day money back guarantee, so if you don't like the book when you get home, you're not stuck with it.
If the information in the book was not useful, return the book.
Don't feel bad.
Authors should only get paid if the information they're selling you is good.
Take action: Go to your favorite bookstore and browse around for some good books, ones that you like.
If you can't go to the bookstore, go online and use the same advice as above, but remember, it's got to be a book that you like, or you will not read it, period.
