ADD and Seeing Perfection in Failure - Really

Does it ever seem like when you are trying to make progress it is two steps forward and one step back? When you have ADD there is a tendency to think in black and white...
it is working or it is not working.
Can you think about progress in another way? Experiment Progress is not linear! You have to experiment to see what works and what does not work.
It could be that you have not found the strategy that works for you, yet.

Edison Remember Alternatively, you found the right strategy, but "forgot" to do what you know works for you.
Does this sound familiar? If this is the case, it is time to reach back into your tool box and get the right implement.
Chart a new course Sometimes the step back is situational.
That is, you were on the right path, but something came up that requires that you alter your original plan.
When this happens, it is time to stop, evaluate what is going on and chart a new course.
What are those life events that can change your original plans?
  • illness - you, a family member or friend
  • hormones - women, you know what I am talking about
  • financial change
  • job change
  • needs of family members
  • change in priorities
  • relationship changes
  • other
When you expect that life will throw you curve balls, you are better able to alter your plans.
I know that this can be challenging for someone with ADD! Remember, while you were doing fine with the old strategies, they may not work for the current situation.
It is not necessarily a step back, just a step to the side.
Even if you still consider it a step back, you are still a step ahead! Two step forward and one step back...
