Jealousy.
It is the destroyer of relationships and it creeps up on us when we least expect it.
Why is it so easy to fall victim to this powerful emotion? The simple answer is fear.
Jealousy is based in fear and insecurity and will destroy a relationship faster than fire through an old barn.
The reason why jealousy is so destructive is that it chips away the main cornerstone of a relationship; trust.
There can be no relationship without trust.
When you go through your partners email, cell phone, Facebook, whatever, you are telling that person you do not trust them.
And whatever you are looking for is what you will find.
No, that does not mean your partner is actually doing anything inappropriate.
It means that a suspicious mind can twist even the most innocent of things.
It also makes your partner not trust you.
How? No one deserves to have their privacy invaded.
All of a sudden they feel as if someone is watching their every move.
Now they have to be careful about their email - not because they are doing anything wrong, but because they deserve to have their privacy respected.
Jealousy also causes distrust because you cannot defend yourself against a negative.
That means you cannot defend yourself against what is in someone,s imagination, nor can you prove they were not "thinking" of someone else.
When you are constantly suspicious of someone and their behavior, you are not only using up your energy, you are making them wonder why you are so suspicious.
