Most Americans are either in the category of being obese or are slowly working their way there.
There happens to be a select group of people who manage to stay thin throughout their lives.
No, I am not just talking about the people in Hollywood.
Reality is that Hollywood is not the real world.
So outside of Hollywood, how is this group of people making weight loss and important and consistent part of their lives? A study has shown that eating more fruits and vegetable plays a big part in weight loss and youthfulness.
Consumer Reports National Research Center conducted a survey asking people about their weight history, including diet and exercise habits.
It turns out that two groups of people from the survey, the always thin and the successful losers of weight ate five or more servings a day of fruits and vegetables.
It seems to easy, I know but how does eating more fruits and vegetables actually help you lose weight? Well, first of all, most fruits and vegetables are low in calories and high in volume.
This means you will cut your calorie in-take back and you will feel satisfied and full quicker.
Also, certain types of fruits and vegetable can curve your cravings.
You body know the nutrients it needs and when you actually give them to your body, it stops craving it elsewhere.
It makes sense that if you are eating something that has only partial nutrients your body needs, your body will want something else on top of what you have already consumed.
This is the essence of cravings.
However, fruits and vegetables have the nutrients and vitamins your body relies on and will not need to get it from other foods.
Choosing fruits and vegetables by color is a good way to go.
Each color provides something different for your body and you will begin to see changes in a short amount of time.
Greens prevent heart disease.
Reds have anti-cancer benefits and are full of Vitamin C and K.
Oranges are high in beta-carotene, which boosts the immune system.
Purples help reduce the risk of heart disease and strokes, as well as being ant-aging.
Whites give you your Vitamin D.
Browns are high in protein and fiber, which helps your cholesterol levels.
All you have to do is begin to supplement those potato chips for your favorite fruit.
Then up them throughout your daily dieting.
