How to Use Private Proxy Servers

    • 1). Obtain your proxy IP, port, username and password from the proxy provider. If you are paying for private proxies, this information will be provided to you by the seller. Without this information you will not be able to create a successful connection to the Internet through the proxy.

    • 2). Open the "Control Panel" application. This is opened by clicking on the "Start" menu in the lower-left corner, and then clicking on the "Control Panel" application on the right side of the menu that appears.

    • 3). Open the "Internet Options" application inside the Control Panel. The application is opened by double-clicking with the left mouse button on the icon for "Internet Options."

    • 4). Click once on the tab labeled "Connections" along the top of the "Internet Options" window. You will see seven tabs along the top, and the tab labeled "Connections" is the fifth one from the left.

    • 5). Click on the button labeled "LAN settings" near the bottom of the "Connections" window. You will need to click on this button once with your left mouse button.

    • 6). Fill in the proxy server area of the "LAN Settings" window. Near the bottom of the window that opens up, you will see an area labeled "Proxy Server." You will need to check the square box that enables the browser to use a proxy. Then you will need to fill in the other two fields with the IP address and port number.

    • 7). Click the "OK" button once at the bottom of the "LAN Settings" window. Use your left mouse button and click once on the button labeled "OK" to close the "LAN Settings" window.
