- 1). Apply for the marriage license no more than 35 days before your wedding date. You can apply up to 8 days before the ceremony and no fewer. All licenses have a waiting period of 6 days. The license is only good for 30 days once it is issued.
- 2). Go to the clerk of court's office in the Ozaukee County Administration Building in Port Washington. The address is 121 W. Main Street. The office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for holidays.
- 3). Bring along all necessary documents to apply for the marriage license. You each need a certified birth certificate, proof of residency, such as a driver's license or photo identification, and Social Security numbers. If one or both have been married before, each will need a copy of the divorce decree. Give the date of the wedding and who will perform the ceremony.
- 4). Pay the licensing fee with cash or a check. The county office does not accept debit or credit cards for marriage licenses.
