Michael Bisping vs. Luke Rockhold Results

Prior to Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold going at it there was a lot of drama, most of which emanated from a 2012 Spike TV MMA Uncensored episode where Bisping dubbed himself "The Unofficial Strikeforce Champion" after Rockhold sparred with him.

"He's so upset about it," said Bisping, according to MMAFighting.com. "He just won't shut up. Continually calling me out, so I returned the favor. I'm certainly not scared of the guy like he seems to insinuate all the time."

"My hands were on my knees for two rounds straight and you couldn't do a damn thing in the best shape of your life, as I'm switching my stance," Rockhold replied. "It's a sparring session. That's all it is. Why did you even talk about it?"

"You're so sensitive about it," Bisping shot back. "I made an off-the-cuff remark."

"A tasteless remark," Rockhold interjected.

"Whatever," continued Bisping. "I was having a laugh. That was a long time ago. Now we're going to fight. We'll get to the bottom of it pretty fast and I'll knock that smug look off your face."

"I'll knock that weak little beard off your face, too," Rockhold responded.

Yep, a lot of hatred.  But that all goes away once they put on the gloves.  Speaking of that- here's what happened when these two threw down at UFC Fight Night 54.

Early on, the action was minimal.  Bisping landed a low kick after 30 seconds had gone by.  Then he grazed with a punch to the chest.  Rockhold shot in after grazing with a punch and clinched with his opponent.

During the clinch, he opened up a cut over the British fighter's eye with an accidental headbutt.  They were started back up in the clinch after the doctors looked at Bisping.  After Rockhold connected with a strike, the British fighter was able to gain separation.  Rockhold grazed with a body kick.  Nice right from Rockhold.  The former Strikeforce champ landed a body kick.  Then another mild counter punch.  Bisping hit home with a solid body kick.  Rockhold then connected with a front kick to the body.  Low kick from Bisping.  Body kick and a nice left from Rockhold.  For a period of time, the AKA product really began to land on his opponent with left hands and body kicks.  Nice body punch and then low kick by Bisping.  Another low kick from Bisping.  And then came the bell.

That was one close round!  Hard to call.  But I think that Rockhold may have taken it.

Round two started with Rockhold connecting with another counter right.  Then he hit home with a hard straight left.  Nice round kick by Rockhold to the head.  The came another one that seemed to hit the top of the British fighter’s head, sending him to the canvas.  Punches in bunches and a guillotine followed, which caused Bisping to tap.

Luke Rockhold defeats Michael Bisping by guillotine choke at 57 seconds of round two.

Ross Pearson vs. Al Iaquinta Results:  Coming into his UFC Fight Night 54 bout against Al Iaquinta, Ross Pearson was known as one of the best stand up fighters in the lightweight division.  But Iaquinta had an interesting take on how that might play out during their fight.

“I think I have an advantage on the feet,” Iaquinta told MMAjunkie. “I see it starting on the feet and ending on the feet.”

So would Iaquinta's stand up prove that proficient?

Or would Pearson do what he's been doing to most on his feet for his entire career?

Get ready, get set, go!

Early on, Pearson took the middle of the Octagon.  A nice jab from Iaquinta was answered by a hard right from Pearson.  Iaquinta hit home with a solid kick.  Pearson grazed with a right hand.  Nice uppercut by Pearson.  Then the British fighter landed a solid right hand followed by a low kick.  For a bit, the action was minimal but mostly in Pearson’s favor.  Nice punch by Iaquinta.  Solid left hand from Pearson.  The rest of the stanza saw both competitors hit home with strikes.  That said, I’d give the initial round to Pearson

Round two saw Pearson take the center of the Octagon again.  That said, Iaquinta really began to hit home with strikes on his opponent, outdoing him with counters.  And that was a glimpse of things to come, as an Iaquinta right hand countered a Pearson kick and sent him to the canvas briefly.  From there, the fighter from Long Island kept the pressure on, eventually dropping Pearson again with a flurry.

Soon after, the referee stepped in.

Al Iaquinta defeats Ross Pearson by TKO at 1:39 of round two.
