Cardboard offers a versatile medium for creating decorations for the festive Halloween season. This medium provides structure and form for many different free-standing designs for both indoor and outdoor displays. Halloween decorations often evoke feelings of horror, fear or remembrance and cardboard displays have the ability to perform this task admirably. - Cardboard dioramas involving historic Halloween myths, such as jack o' lanterns and black cats, provide ambiance to an indoor setting. Cardboard can fill the heads of ghost decorations or provide bones for free-hanging skeletons. Black cats carved from cardboard attach to banisters and railings to set a spooky, haunted scene. Painters may also find that a painted cardboard backdrop, detailing an autumnal night or haunted bridge, evokes a sense of awe and wonder in visiting guests or diners.
- Ghosts and goblins spring to life when created from cardboard. Cardboard hands may jut out of the ground along fences and in gardens. Cardboard tombstones can provide either a spooky or humorous look to a lawn before a party or event. Large cardboard coffins may house family members dressed up as zombies, vampires or werewolves. These members can spring to life to surprise guests and partygoers as they arrive for festive entertainment.
- Black cardboard shaped like tombstones bearing the names of guests outlined in chalk provide ambiance to a dinner party. Likewise, the same cardboard can block out windows and outside sources of light to create a shut-in, surreal feeling. Covering the windows in the dining room allows for a more intense evening and goes well with any Halloween mystery dinner events or spirit channeling. Dioramas also play a part here, giving guests a conversation piece to examine and discuss while meal preparations are completed.
