How Suppression can turn into A Depression Easily

It is a common phenomenon to get respect and understood by those we love. Self-confidence is the key point to get this. Your self-confidence highlights your quality of expressing yourself openly and directly, but without suppressing others rights and ignoring our duties towards others.  Your self-confidence earns you the respect and works as a stress buster as you have the courage to speak out whatever is going in to your mind. You have the courage to say no to many responsibilities if you are not capable to carry them out.

Everybody should have self-confidence, but here self-confidence doesn't mean making unreasonable demands without considering the consequences.  You will have to take an honest and confident stand to make a mutually satisfying resolution, even in disagreement without being judgmental.

However, you cannot act confidently all the time, especially with your loved ones and coworkers.  In some situations, you will have to compromise. Such situation can force you to suppress your feelings. Suppressing or restraining yourself is a dangerous thing if it remains for a long time. Suppression is the activity to restricting your emotions and feeling from expression.

The results can be even more destructive for the person who is suppressed as well as for others too. The untold feeling and emotions are still there waiting to come out. They come out as an eruption in the form of massive outburst, physical or mental illness. There is a direct relationship between our thoughts and emotions that can make us feel good or bad.

Our thoughts affect our emotions so every thought we have can make us feel good or bad. When we have negative thoughts about ourselves, others, we are creating a negative experience for our body.

Our ideas affect our feelings so every thought we have can make us experience great or bad. When we have pessimism about ourselves, others, we are developing a negative aura around us that damage ourselves as well as others. We often ignore our mood swings hoping that it will go away, but when you face mood swings constantly, you should be alarmed as it may develop into something more serious mental or physical illness once ignored.

Suppression can turn into depression easily because in both situations we can't express ourselves easily. Depression depletes hope; it is an unpleasant situation that pushes you away from that can help you the most. The key to combat depression is to take small steps towards holistic approach. Often people stop trying to put the depression off just thinking about the time it may take. But they forgot that we can't complete our journey with few steps. Taking small steps will make it more manageable in spite of fixing the whole problem at a time. Pet you back after completing each small objective no matter how simple they were.

Accepting support from friends or family members or depression counseling can help in combating depression, being with someone can make you feel relax. It can be going on a walk and discussing about your feelings. You can get the support and encouragement that you are looking for.

Take care of your physical health is also important. Take balanced diet, do meditation and yoga. According to the recent studies, exercise in an open area surrounded by nature can keep you more fit and relaxed.  Adhere to a fixed time to sleep and awake.

Therefore, we can see that suppressing our feeling and depression go hand in hand and can create more problems in our life. Being honest, and calmly facing the problems or disturbing events of life, living in the present without thinking about past and future can keep the depression at bay.
