- 1). Draw a triangle on your pattern paper with three 60-degree angles. The triangle should be 40 inches tall. Cut the triangle out. This is your pattern for the skirt.
- 2). Mark six triangles on your fabric with the pattern. Cut them out. These triangles will make your skirt.
- 3). Pin the triangles together with points at the top. They should make a complete circle when assembled. Sew the triangles together.
- 4). Draw a circle in the middle of your skirt with an 18-inch diameter. This will be the waist of your skirt. Sew the waistband of your skirt, leaving an opening to thread the elastic through. Sew the ends of the elastic together and sew the waistband closed.
- 5). Measure the skirt to your desired length. Mark the length with the fabric pencil and cut the extra fabric off the bottom of the skirt.
- 6). Fold the bottom edge of the skirt over 1/4 inch. Fold the edge 1/4 inch again and pin it in place. This will be the hem of your skirt. Sew the hem, removing pins as you go.
