- 1). Measure a piece of cardboard that is 8- to 10-inches wide and half as long as you would like your tassels to be. Cut the cardboard to these dimensions.
- 2). Wrap the yarn around the cardboard, as many times as strands you will need for your tassels. For instance, if you are making 12 6-strand tassels, you will need to make 72 wraps around the cardboard.
- 3). Cut the yarn off of the cardboard at one edge of the cardboard.
- 4). Separate the yarn into tassel bunches.
- 5). Fold one tassel bunch in half.
- 6). Stick the crochet hook through the first stitch of the binding edge of the scarf.
- 7). Hook the fold of the tassel onto the end of the crochet hook.
- 8). Pull the tassel halfway through the stitch.
- 9). Pull the ends of the tassel through the folded loop. Pull tight.
- 10
Repeat steps 5 through 9 until the end of the scarf is fully fringed. - 11
Separate half of the first and second tassels. - 12
Bring these strands together and tie them in a knot. - 13
Continue doing this across the row of fringe until you are happy with the design.
