- 1). Get a webcam. Many laptops and desktop computer monitors to have webcams built into them already. However, if your computer does not have this, then you need to purchase a webcam. Most webcams aren't very expensive -- you can usually get one for $20-$30. It is important to get a high-quality webcam so it lasts and will record video that isn't grainy.
- 2). Come up with ideas and a schedule. Before you actually start recording webcasts like on "iCarly," it is important to come up with ideas for each webcast. Think about things you want to talk about, like school events coming up, family events, relationship drama and fun times with friends. Decide how many webcasts you want to record a week, and create a schedule with a theme for each "episode" of the webcast.
- 3). Get video editing software. If your computer or webcam doesn't already come with video editing software, it is important to get some. Apple computers usually come with video design software called iMovie. For PCs are Adobe Premiere Pro, Roxio Creator and Corel VideoStudio. This software usually range in price from about $60 to $100. You will need to edit out any parts of the taped video that don't make sense or take up too much time. You also need to include an intro title and ending credits.
- 4). Upload video to YouTube or Vimeo. YouTube is the most popular Internet video website -- upload is free and you can embed videos onto your website for your webcasts. Another great video hosting website is Vimeo -- you can upload larger files there, even though it can take up to two hours, depending on the size of the file. Vimeo is free as well.
- 5). Market your webcasts. Tell all your friends about your webcasts and get the word out to as many people as possible. You can even wear a T-shirt with the address of your webcasts like on "iCarly." Other ways to market your webcasts include using social media and blogs to talk about new webcasts and updates or changes.
