Diversion Safes, Are They a Good Place to Hide Valuables?

In today's world, if you have any valuables, you better find a safe place to hide them where nobody else will know where they are at.
Many may rely on hiding places in the home like under the mattress, in a shoe box, in the sock drawer, etc.
The problem with this method of hiding important items is that anyone might accidentally stumble onto them while visiting you in your home.
Also, if your home is ever burglarized, those are probably some of the first places that a criminal would look.
Some folks might get a friend or family member to hide valuables for them, but this can be risky also.
The friend or family member might forget where they hid your stuff, or they may decide they need to use some of your valuables to get out of a financial crisis.
Also, if you ever get into a fight with a family member or stop being a friend to someone whom you trusted with hiding your valuables, they may decide to liquidate your assets for their own use, and leave you with nothing but a memory of your valued items.
One needs to weigh out all their options when hiding their valued possessions.
Many people have also relied on the banking system with their vaults and/or safety deposit boxes in securing valued items.
This might sound like a great way to hide valuables, but these items can be stolen or due to some banking error, they could be sold without even contacting the owner.
This is not to say that the use of a private vault or an in-home personal vault wouldn't be a safe place to hide things.
This would certainly be a better option than any previously mentioned locations.
The cheapest, and maybe the safest place to hide things would be the use of a diversion safe.
What is a diversion safe, you might ask? These are items that look like common home products that have secret compartments in which to hide stuff.
The very best place to hide something is in plain sight.
How many times have you looked for your car keys or something similar and could not find them? Then someone walks up and picks them up right in front of you!It happens all the time to most people.
The Chicago Crime Commission says that a burglar spends an average of about 8 minutes in a victim's home.
No criminal will go through soda cans, degreaser containers, books, wall outlets, flower pots or other household items looking for valuables.
They usually look in the places discussed in the first part of this article.
To conclude, where would be a great place to hide family heirlooms or personal treasures?Avoid the obvious places and consider a small cheap diversion safe.
Most of them can be purchased for under $20 and there is a wide variety of these safes to choose from.
Do a little research of your own and decide what will work best for you in protecting your valued items.
