Success: The Human Component

We spend so much of our precious time engrossed in technology that we sometimes forget to lift our heads up and really appreciate what is going on around us.
Throwing yourself into work all the time without stopping soon becomes counter-productive if you do not take a few moments to take it all in.
Today, we are under a constant rainstorm of information; if we spend too much time in it, it becomes all too easy to lose sight of who and what we really are and what we want.
When we get lost in this 'technological haze', our brain goes on an 'auto-pilot' mode of sorts where we do and say things that are so far removed from sincerity and compassion that it becomes unfathomable that these simple things actually exist within us.
This comes as a direct result of allowing social media to dominate our conversations; it promotes talking (a great deal, mind you) without speaking which is venom to emotional connection.
It is through speaking often, eye to eye, with another human being that we are forced to consider the other person's feelings; the more you do it, the more it becomes familiar to you.
However, it is not like riding a bicycle; it takes constant practice to be able to do this and with the increased tendency of people to use electronic means of communication, this 'skill' has become uncomfortably scarce.
Never underestimate the power that compassion has in an interaction; identifying with the other person's passion or problem opens a spectrum of options for you.
It can become surprisingly easy to resolve issues or grow an idea from a heartfelt, passionate pitch; all because you took the time to listen intently and comprehend what the other person is saying.
Not only that, but that person will see you in a different light because genuine people are so hard to find that you'll be seen as someone to be put on a pedestal.
In conclusion, never forget that you share one thing with everybody: The fact that you are human.
Humans have great capacity for compassion whether they acknowledge it or not; use this to your advantage, it is definitely a skill worth cultivating.
