Ornaments Made From Ribbon and Styrofoam

    • 1). Choose ribbon that is less than 1/8 as wide as the diameter of the ball. For example, if you are using a ball that is 2 inches in diameter, use ribbon that is less than 1/4 inch wide. If the ribbon is too wide, the edges will not lie flat.

    • 2). Place the end of the ribbon on top of the ball and hold it in place with a straight pin.

    • 3). Wrap the ribbon around to the bottom of the ball and hold it in place with another pin. Bring the ribbon back up to the top of the ball and overlap the end of the ribbon 1/2 inch. Cut the ribbon at this point and pin the end in place.

    • 4). Continue wrapping ribbon around the ball in this way until you are pleased with the effect. Start some ribbons on the top of the ball and some on the bottom to reduce the bulk of the ribbon at these points. All the ribbons should overlap at the top and bottom of the ball.

    • 5). Cut the last loop of ribbon with a 3/4-inch overlap and fold the end under 1/2 inch to hide the raw edge.

    • 6). Stick a corsage pin through the ribbons at the top and bottom of the ball. Be sure to go through all the layers of ribbon. Remove all visible pins.

    • 7). Tie a loop of fishing line to the top corsage pin for a hanging loop.
