How to Write a Birthday Invitation in French

    Form Letter

    • 1). Copy the following invitation:

      Cher

Vous êtes invité à mon anniversaire!

      Date:

      Heure:

      Lieu:

      R.S.V.P:

    • 2). Write the name of the friend that you would like to invite to the right of the word "Cher." This is the opening of the letter. "Cher" means "dear." Write a comma after the name.

    • 3). Write the date of the party in the spot next to "Date." Write the date as the day before the month, which is the proper European form of writing dates. If the day is September 3, 2010, then write "3.9.2010."

    • 4). Write the time the party will start in the spot to the right of "Heure." The standard European model of time uses military time. If the party is to start at 2 p.m., then write 14:00.

    • 5). Write the location of the party in the space to the right of "Lieu."

    • 6). Write your telephone number to the right of the "R.S.V.P." label.

    Online Translation

    • 1). Click on the Google Translate and Yahoo Babelfish link. (See Resources.)

    • 2). Select "English" as the language to be translating from. Select "French" as the language that you want to translate to.

    • 3). Type your birthday invitation in English into the text box. Click "Translate." This will give you an adequate French invitation.
